Cherry Picking at Brentwood

By Michael Malabed The orchards at Brentwood opened up for fruit picking last week. Manong Ken, manang Ava, Thea, Faustina and Giuliana embarked on a journey to pick the sweetest cherries in Brentwood, CA last Sunday, May 24, 2010. They were joined by Nanang, mom, dad, Nick, Milord, auntie Eva, and yours truly. Today, manang Ava and manong Ken's sisters are again planning to go to Brentwood. The two full 5-gallon buckets of cherries from last week weren't enough. From cherry pie to just plainly munching on it, the 2-5 gallon buckets are gone... kaput. This time, we won't be able to join them though because Milord would like to bring us to the shooting range and try on his Kimber Warrior II pistol. This will, for sure, be an exciting memorial day weekend.  Michael Malabed is the eldest son of Erlinole and Melby Malabed. He's a senior at Westmoor High School in Daly City, CA.

Nick Malabed joins the Daly City Colts

By Michael Malabed Westmoor High School Varsity Baseball played their last game for the 2009-2010 season last week, May 22, 2010 against Mills High School. It was an emotional game because it meant the last game for the four seniors that are in the varsity squad. Nick, a freshman, is the starting catcher for the Westmoor Rams varsity team. After the high school baseball season ended, Nick signed up with the Daly City Colts. He also signed up with the Coastside Sports traveling team in Pacifica, joining his old buddies whom he grew up with playing Little League and Pony. Nick has dreams of making it big in baseball. Through hard work and determination, I hope he'll realize his dream. Michael Malabed is the eldest son of Erlinole and Melby Malabed. He's a senior at Westmoor High School in Daly City, CA.
